Active ingredient and class: Each capsule contains fluconazole 50 mg, a triazole antifungal that works by blocking ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, weakening and killing susceptible fungi.​

Main uses: Indicated for mucosal candidiasis (oral thrush, oesophageal candidiasis), vaginal candidiasis, skin and nail fungal infections, cryptococcal meningitis, and systemic candidiasis; it may also be used prophylactically in immunocompromised patients at risk of fungal infections.​

Typical dosing patterns: Dose and duration vary by infection; regimens often range from 50 mg once daily for milder mucosal or skin infections up to higher daily doses for systemic or CNS infections, and treatment may continue for days to several weeks as directed by a clinician.​

Common side effects: Nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and rash are reported; rare but serious reactions include liver toxicity and severe hypersensitivity (e.g., widespread rash, swelling, breathing difficulty), which require urgent medical review.​

Key precautions: Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment, those taking interacting drugs (such as some anticoagulants, antiepileptics or QT‑prolonging agents), and during pregnancy or breastfeeding; avoid alcohol and always follow the exact prescription instructions from a healthcare professional.
