Brustan-N Plus is a combination analgesic and antipyretic medication. It contains two active ingredients: Ibuprofen (400mg) and Paracetamol (325mg). It is primarily used for the relief of severe pain and inflammation where a single-ingredient painkiller may not be sufficient, such as for migraines, dental surgery pain, post-operative pain, and severe musculoskeletal aches.
This “plus” formulation works through a dual mechanism. Ibuprofen is an NSAID that reduces the production of prostaglandins to tackle inflammation and pain at the site of injury. Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) works primarily in the central nervous system to elevate the overall pain threshold and reduce fever. By combining these two, Brustan-N Plus provides a “synergistic” effect—meaning the two drugs work better together than they do separately to manage moderate to severe pain.
Clinical management of Brustan-N Plus involves taking one tablet two to three times daily. Because it contains a significant dose of Ibuprofen, it must be taken with or after food to minimize the risk of stomach irritation. It is strictly contraindicated for individuals with active stomach ulcers, severe kidney or heart failure, or those with a history of asthma triggered by Aspirin. Common side effects include nausea, heartburn, dizziness, and abdominal discomfort.
